Finland Chamber of Commerce Sustainability Reporting

Read the 2025 VSME Report (in Finnish)

The Finland Chamber of Commerce has reported on its sustainability performance in accordance with the EU’s voluntary VSME Sustainability Reporting Standard since the 2024 financial year. As one of the first organisations to publish a VSME report, the Finland Chamber of Commerce aims to encourage small and medium-sized enterprises to begin their sustainability reporting journey.

The Finland Chamber of Commerce Sustainability Programme

Our sustainability reporting builds on the Finland Chamber of Commerce’s long-term sustainability development work, which began in 2020. Our primary tool for advancing sustainability is our Sustainability Programme. You can review the Sustainability Programme for 2025–2027 here (in Finnish).

We want to lead by example and encourage especially SMEs to strive for increasingly sustainable business practices. The Chamber’s Sustainability Programme is a practical and straightforward framework that focuses on the sustainability topics considered most material, together with related objectives, indicators, and actions.

The programme aims to strengthen the Finland Chamber of Commerce’s role as a responsible organisation and to improve our operations from two perspectives:

  • Footprint – reducing the negative impacts of our own operations.
  • Handprint – increasing the positive impacts of our activities on stakeholders and society.

The Sustainability Programme was prepared by a working group comprising representatives from all business units and employee groups within the organisation. All employees participated in workshops to develop objectives, indicators, and actions. This collaborative process strengthened the organisation’s commitment to implementing the programme. After the working group finalised the programme, it was approved by the management team and ultimately endorsed by the Board of the Finland Chamber of Commerce.

The Sustainability Programme has been in effect since the beginning of 2025. We review the relevance, progress, and implementation of the programme’s objectives and actions twice a year. In line with the principle of continuous improvement, we update the programme annually and assess the need for new actions and initiatives.
